Golf Digest Top 50 Best Teachers In America
With over 20 years teaching, 16 at Cog Hill, Kevin has established himself as a premier instructor on the local and national level. Kevin has earned three Illinois PGA Instructor of the year awards (2005, 2007, 2009), is currently ranked #1 on Golf Digest’s ‘Top Instructors In your State (IL)’, and was a finalist for the 2010 National PGA Teacher of the Year Award. In 2013, Kevin was named US Kids Golf Master Instructor for his commitment to developing junior players. Over 60 of his students have played college golf.
Kevin is a regular contributor to pga.com and has had numerous articles published in Golf Digest. Kevin invented and patented his dynamic impact indicator, a putting improvement device, and has worked with over 75 PGA Tour players since 2006.

Bernie Najar is the Director of Instruction at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. Recognized as one of the top instructors in both the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area and the nation, Bernie is one of Golf Digest’s 50 Best Teachers and Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers, and is also ranked as Golf Digest’s No. 1 teacher in Maryland. He is a two-time winner of both of the Middle Atlantic PGA Section’s top teaching honors—Teacher of the Year (2014, 2004) and the Horton Smith Award (2011, 2012).
Since becoming a golf professional in 1994, Bernie’s goal has been to promote the enjoyment of the game through comprehensive, personalized instruction. Bernie has trained under some of the most prominent instructors in the game, and, in turn, has become a resource for other teachers interested in improving their teaching and coaching skills.

James Leitz is the P.G.A. Golf Professional at Tchefuncta Country Club in Covintgon, Louisiana. James was formally the Head Golf Professional at Pinewood Country Club for 33 years. He has been named Golf Professional Emeritus for life at Pinewood.
James was named the Junior Promoter of the Year for the Louisiana P.G.A. in 1988. He has been ranked as one of the top 50 Junior Golf Instructors in the U.S. by U.S. Kids Golf. James has been the featured speaker at over 100 P.G.A. Educational Conferences for Golf Professionals all over the world including Madrid Spain, Copenhagen Denmark, Helsinki Finland, Sweden, Ireland, St. Andrews Scotland, London England, Zurich Switzerland, Gold Coast of Australia, and Alberta Canada. James was a 3 time featured speaker at the M.I.T. Better Golf Through Technology Conference. James is known worldwide as the “Teachers Teacher”.

Michael Jacobs is based at Rock Hill Country Club in Manorville, NY, where he operates one of the most technologically advanced teaching programs in the world. With Michael, you’ll be able to see exactly how you move your body and the club during a swing and get expert guidance from an instructor who has given more than 25,000 lessons and has mentored players on every major tour around the world. Michael was voted by his peers as one of the 50 Best Teachers in America by Golf Digest, he is one of Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America, a Golf Digest Best Young Teacher in America, the #3 ranked teacher in New York by Golf Digest and the 2012 Metropolitan PGA Teacher of the year.
He is the only golf instructor to have designed his own research software, Jacobs 3D, which measures the forces and torques at work in a golf swing. He is the author of two best-selling books, The Elements of the Swing and Swing Tips You Should Forget. His articles appear regularly in Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. Shaun Webb
Shaun is currently the Director of Instruction at the David Toms 265 Golf Academy in Shreveport, La. In addition to coaching Toms on the PGA Tour, he has worked with more than 20 other tour players, and have helped dozens of competitive junior golfers earn Division I scholarships.
Shaun was also named to Golf Digest’s prestigious Best Young Teachers list in 2014. Before joining Toms in 2013, I was an instructor and biomechanics specialist at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy outside Orlando. There, he assisted Gilchrist with LPGA major champions Yani Tseng and Shanshan Feng and helped develop one of the most successful elite junior training programs in the country.
One of a few instructors in North America trained to teach using TrackMan, K-Vest, Robo Golf Pro and the GEARS 3D club and body tracking system, his teaching base at the David Toms Golf Academy is the most technologically advanced in Gulf States.
Specializing in power and speed development in his players, Shaun’s use of cutting edge swing science research and the latest technology systems has allowed him to achieve some exceptional results.
His experience with those systems has made him one of the leading authorities in improving golf swings with the use of technology, and his 2014 book, Swing Tips You Should Forget (written with fellow instructor Michael Jacobs), is the first one to incorporate data and images from the GEARS system.
Mike Granato
Mike is not your typical golf professional.
A highly decorated collegiate athlete (outside of golf), he learned early on how to excel by creating the winning habits necessary to be successful.
Habits that are universal and apply to all sports.
Mike’s ability to instill those competitive advantages, and his ability to coach golfers as athletes is what separates him from typical “swing teachers.”
Mike’s passion is giving the athlete every tool they need to be successful.

9am - 10am: Brian Manzella - "Handle Dragging"
Brian Manzella is the 29th ranked teacher in America on Golf Digest’s 50 Best Teachers in America List, his third consecutive time in the Top 50. He is a 4-time and current Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher in America. A 28-year member of the PGA of America, Brian was the 2013 PGA Gulf States Section Teacher of the Year and the PGA Kentucky Section Teacher of the Year in 2003.
His 34-year teaching career includes a long tutelage under the late world-renown instructor Ben Doyle, and a long on and off teacher-student relationship with PGA Champion David Toms. Brian’s extensive work with David in 2011 resulted in Toms moving up 80 places in the world rankings, finishing second at the Players’, and winning at Colonial, setting the all-time lowest 36 hole score in PGA Tour history.
